Stage 19 - Contador made it very interesting, and despite his third place finish, a great stage to watch:
SRAM: 1317
Shimano: 1622
Campagnolo: 946

Stage 18 - Basso (Liquigas-Cannondale), Contador (Saxo Bank-Sungard), Danielson (Garmin-Cervelo) and Peraud (AG2R la Mondiale) hanging in the top ten:
SRAM: 1229
Shimano: 1545
Campagnolo: 901

Stage 17:
SRAM: 1144
Shimano: 1485
Campagnolo: 836

Stage 16 - Another incredible finish by Thor Hushovd (Garmin-Cervelo) on SRAM’s Black RED drivetrain, followed by his teammate and stage lead-out, Ryder Hesjedal. Also favorite Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Sungard) demonstrated some DH skills and some oncoming form, moving himself closer to the podium. Perhaps this is the beginning of a comeback in the TdF Challenge…
SRAM: 1074
Shimano: 1406
Campagnolo: 785

Stage 15 - SRAM athletes dominate the day into Montpellier with 10 of the top 20 finishers on SRAM RED and Black RED, while SRAM-equipped Garmin-Cervelo are still leading the Team Category:
SRAM: 975
Shimano: 1315
Campagnolo: 755

Stage 14:
SRAM: 894
Shimano: 1276
Campagnolo: 675

Stage 13 - Hushovd takes an incredible win with pure guts!

SRAM: 802
Shimano: 1116

Shimano: 1027
Campagnolo: 474

Stage 10:
SRAM: 683
Shimano: 920

SRAM riders tried to stay aggressive, but with top riders like Vino and Horner out, it has definitely changed the landscape of this Tour (Stage 9):
SRAM: 603
Shimano: 848
Campagnolo: 394

Stage 8:
SRAM: 581
Shimano: 703
Campagnolo: 351

Stage seven was a sprinters paradise that again featured lots of crashes, eliminated several top contenders, and limited the chances of SRAM favorites Levi Leipheimer and Chris Horner (both RadioShack) who both suffered time losses after pile-ups:
SRAM: 536
Shimano: 595
Campagnolo: 294

Another nervous stage for the peloton that was the longest of the Tour, from Dinan to Lisieux (2236.5km):
SRAM: 460
Shimano: 514
Campagnolo: 249

Stage five featured too many crashes, but the ‘Challenge’ continues:
SRAM: 396
Shimano: 418
Campagnolo: 209

SRAM and Zipp rider and three time champion Alberto Contador (Saxo bank Sungard) takes a few seconds back on some key rivals, and barely misses out on the win:
SRAM: 337
Shimano: 328
Campagnolo: 146

The ‘Challenge’ totals after stage three which took place on America’s Independence day, and a day for the sprinters independence. Germin-Cervelo dominated again with a win and three riders in the top seven. Congrats to SRAM Black RED rider Tyler Farrar!
SRAM: 252
Shimano: 241
Campagnolo: 108

After stage two’s beautiful team time trial, dominated by SRAM-equipped Garmin-Cervelo, the results are:
SRAM: 138
Shimano: 188
Campagnolo: 94

The ‘Challenge’ scores after a very chaotic stage one from Passage du Gois – Mont des Alouettes:
SRAM: 55
Shimano: 92
Campagnolo: 63

SRAM will keep track of the top 20 finishers componentry throughout the 2011 Tour de France here on theroaddiaries.com. The ‘Manufacturer’s Challenge’ is a stage-by-stage race within the race, celebrating the equipment and its respective technologies. Of course the riders make it exciting, but its the bikes that have truly evolved, and the bikes are what we all can have in common with the world’s best riders. The respective groupsets gathers points based on daily race results of the top 20 riders throughout, 20 for 1st, 1 for 20th. Sprinting, climbing, time trials, all factor in over the complete three weeks of the world’s largest Grand Tour. So let the race within the race begin!
