SRAM Athletes Set Fastest Bike Splits in Kona

Thurig on her way to a new course record in Kona

Karin Thürig (4:44:19) and Chris Lieto (4:18:31) powered to the fastest bike splits at the 2011 Ironman® World Championships on SRAM RED components.

Thürig captured a new course record (which she had previously held) by averaging 24 mph over the hot, hilly and windy 112-mile leg. The former Duathlon World Champion rode SRAM RED drivetrain with R2C shift levers and Zipp 404 & 808 Firecrest wheels.

Chris Lieto delivered another huge ride and the modern legend missed setting a new course record by a mere eight seconds. Lieto averaged over 26 mph, and has four of the top 10 fastest Kona bike splits of all time.
